Careers That Start Fast
Not every career requires a four-year degree. Many of the highest-demand occupations in Indiana can be entered after completing a short-term training program — some in as little as 4 weeks.
Here are five career paths you can start in 12 weeks or less.
1. HVAC Technician — 20 Weeks
Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning technicians install and repair climate control systems. Demand is year-round — heating in winter, cooling in summer.
2. CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) — 4-8 Weeks
CNAs provide direct patient care in hospitals, nursing homes, and home health settings. Indiana has a persistent shortage of CNAs, which means steady job availability.
3. CDL (Commercial Driver License) — 4 Weeks
CDL drivers are in demand across logistics, construction, and public transit. Training is fast and job placement rates are high.
4. Phlebotomy Technician — 8 Weeks
Phlebotomists draw blood for lab tests, transfusions, and donations. Every hospital, clinic, and lab needs them.
5. Medical Assistant — 12 Weeks
Medical assistants handle both clinical and administrative tasks in doctor offices and clinics — taking vitals, scheduling, processing insurance.
